Awards winners for the 2021 season!
Following on from an extremely successful Presentation night where we gathered to celebrate our players’ achievements, alongside poking fun at a few people for a few memorable moments, we are pleased to publish our awards winners for the 2021 season!
Batsman of the Year - Muhammad Sarfraz
Second most runs in the team, with two half centuries. 348 runs at an average of 23, and a highest strike of 80.
Bowler of the Year - Safwan Ehsan
Second most wickets in the team, with best figures of 7 for 45. A tally of 21 wickets at an average of 21.
3rd XI Player of the Year - Muhammad Adnan
Recipient of the Brian Kilburn trophy. Leading run scorer with 695 runs at an average of 43 and a highest score of 118. Top of the bowling leaderboard, with 38 wickets at an average of 12, and best figures of 5 for 17. MVP for the division.
Batsman of the Year - Obaid Iqbal
Leading run scorer in the team despite playing a number of First XI games. Topped the charts with 418 runs at an average of 46, with 4 half centuries including a highest score of 71 not out.
Bowler of the Year - Marcus Young
Leading wicket taker in the team by 13 wickets and bowler of the most overs, Marcus took 43 2nd team wickets at an average of just under 13, with 3 ‘five fors’ and best figures of 6 for 19.
Batsman of the Year - Jamshed Raza
Second leading run scorer in the team, and with an impressive 29 first XI sixes, amassed 562 runs at an average of 47, with an incredible strike rate of 116 and a high score of 106 not out.
Bowler of the Year - Chris Heywood
The second most wickets in the team despite playing 6 matches fewer than some other bowlers. 37 first team wickets at an average of 15, with two ‘five fors’ and best figures of 5 for 17.
Cricketer of the Year - Scott Howarth
A stellar year for our vice-captain and stand in wicket keeper. 17 catches and 2 stumpings to add to being the highest run scorer in all comps in the entire club for the season, Scott is an electric fielder when not donning the gloves. The leading run scorer in the First XI with 649 runs at an average of 41, 3 half centuries and a highest score of 155 not out in the cup make for a most deserved winner.
Clubman of the Year - Chris McGrath
Sub fielder of the Year, junior co-ordinator, stand in for the First XI whenever possible, this year was the culmination of a 5 year junior training programme which resulted in the club having a junior team playing league cricket at under 11s for the first time in a long time. Nothing is more important than having junior cricket to continue the club for future generations, and the fact that we have juniors is reflective of the amount of hard work put in by Chris over the last 5 years – a massive congratulations to a very worthy recipient.
