Thornham sign South African duo for 2021

Thornham CC are delighted to announce the signings of Brad Easton and Ricardo Brules as overseas players for 2021.

Bradley is a hugely talented batting allrounder from Gauteng in South Africa. The 18 year old represents the famous Delfos Cricket Club in the Premier side. Easton is a fluent top order batsman, comfortable batting anywhere in the top order, is widely regarded as one of the best fielders at the club and also bowls some useful medium pace.

Brad is delighted to be joining Thornham as he said “I chose to sign with Thornham as it looks like it is a great club, in a great location with an amazing group of people. I would love to travel around the UK and possibly even in Europe as I have never been to any other country in Europe”.

The South African will be returning to the UK after a spell in Hampshire in 2019 and is looking forward to playing in the North despite the weather “I chose to return to England for another season of cricket so that I can test my abilities and my character abroad and to enjoy life and make more memories with amazing people. Yeah I’ve heard it rains a bit, but I’m looking forward to getting to Manchester and hopefully helping the side be successful”.

Our Second signing Ricardo is an exciting and aggressive left arm quick who plays Premier League cricket in Gauteng for Old Parktonians having recently finished his studies at the famous Monument School. His performances also led to him being picked in the last 2 LPL drafts for Cavalier Cats & Mzanzi Hawks whilst also representing Gauteng U19’s side

Ricky can’t wait to get going in April as he said “I’m looking forward to getting to the UK to play for the first time. I have heard good things from someone I know about Thornham and the cricket played in the GMCL. My aim is to become a professional cricketer so to play in English conditions won’t do any harm and I just can’t wait to get going”.

Chairman Andrew Micklethwaite is delighted to get the signings over the line, having moved quickly to sign the duo. “We identified fairly early on the areas that we wanted to strengthen as a team, and these two fit the bill perfectly. It helps that Tiaan (our 2019 South African) could put in a good word for us and he knows Ricky so could give me an assessment. I look forward to welcoming both the lads to the club and showing them what Manchester and the whole of the UK has to offer”.

Thornham CC would like to thank CricX for their services in helping sign both Brad and Ricard
