Alcindo Holder to join Thornham

Thornham CC are delighted to announce that Alcindo Holder will join the Club for the 2024 season. For local and indeed international cricket fans Alcindo should require no introduction – he has represented the West Indies and Barbados in the past and has played amateur cricket in the Manchester region for a number of years now.

Alcindo joins from neighbours Heyside CC whom he has represented for the last 3 years, during which time he has amassed over 3000 runs. Primarily a batsman, he will bring with him a wealth of experience at both first-class level but also regarding local conditions. Alcindo comes highly recommended and will be a great addition to the Club’s First XI as they continue to look to compete in the GMCL in a high-quality division that is becoming ever more competitive season on season.

Chairman Andrew Micklethwaite said “This is a real coup for a Club of our stature; the fact that Alcindo recognises what we want to achieve as a Club whilst remaining true to our values and wants to join us to help with that project is really amazing. I think he will be of great value to the Club not only with weight of runs but also helping with match management and improving awareness and understanding in certain game scenarios. I really do think his experience will be invaluable. I also think it will be fabulous for the junior section of the Club to be able to learn from a bona fide superstar cricketer who has had exposure at the highest level.”
